Ask any doctor or dermatologist, and they’ll tell you to always wear sunscreen.

In fact, they say it’s the No. 1 thing you can do to fight the effects of premature aging and maximize the benefits from any cosmetic treatment. There’s no sense in paying for Botox if you don’t regularly wear sunscreen.

As part of our SPF365 pledge to wear sunscreen every day, we’re sharing stories from three real people on our site who say it’s imperative to wear sunscreen. Every damn day.

jaden27’s story: Mohs surgery for skin cancer

In her review, jaden27 reminds us that skin cancer can strike at any time.

“About four weeks ago, I went to the dermatologist for an overall body check,” she wrote. “I also wanted to talk about a very small white bump on my nose that I’d had for a long time. When the [biopsy] results came back, the spot on my leg was fine, but the bump on my nose was basal cell carcinoma.”

She had Mohs surgery, the most effective treatment for the two most common types of skin cancer.

Thankfully, the surgery went well, and now she is extra committed to wearing sunscreen. “Although I’ve worn sunblock daily for the past eight years, I will be even more vigilant now about wearing a hat, reapplying sunblock and getting a body check every six months,” she wrote.

Lovecanada’s story: Preserving her results

At 51, lovecanada has had injectable fillers and Botox, but she wanted a more permanent treatment for her face and chose CO2 laser. Afterward, she decided to make her results last by using sun protection.

“I know this procedure has some downtime, but it’s worth it in the long run as your youth is restored if you take care with sunscreens and hats in the sun,” she wrote.

Skin Geek Colorado’s story: Former sun goddess

“I was a teenage sun goddess and needed to undo a lot of sun damage that started becoming visible in my early 30s,” wrote Skin Geek Colorado. She tried the treatment IPL, which removed several dark spots caused by sun damage, and also improved the texture and oiliness of her skin.

Now protecting her skin from sun exposure helps her maintain the investment. “I repeat the procedure on an annual basis and am a daily sunscreen user,” she wrote.
