Long gone are the days of tabloid headlines and hushed rumors among Hollywood celebrities about cosmetic surgery. And in the age of social media, sharing personal experiences is not only welcomed but often applauded.
Many celebrities are owning their experiences, from Botox to liposuction, without shame. Rejecting the stigma of procedures, whether invasive or not, allows people to have healthy conversations about what works best for them.
Here are 10 celebs who have been transparent about their journey with cosmetic and elective procedures.
Author and model Chrissy Teigen rarely shies away from candid and often hilarious confessions, including her experiences with plastic surgery. In 2017, she told Byrdie about a liposuction procedure she had to remove excess fat from under her arms. “It added two inches of length to my arms,” she said, adding that it gave her more confidence in sleeveless tops and dresses. “Now [the fat] is back though, so now I’ve gotta pay for it again.”

Modern Family star Ariel Winter got real about the emotional and physical pain she faced after her breasts rapidly developed at age 15. She told Glamour.com, “I remember being in my sister’s wedding and being so flat and thinking, ‘I just wish I could grow boobs!’ And then overnight I did. But then they kept growing and growing and growing, and it didn’t seem like they were going to stop.”
Winter had breast reduction surgery and went from a size 32F cup to a 34D. She shared going through the procedure with close friends and family, saying, “I didn’t want to not tell anybody and then have another million stories [say], ‘What happened to Ariel? She looks so different.’ And I also think there’s some good that can come from [telling] my story. It’s something that I did to better my life and better my health, and I think that can benefit a lot of young girls. I have felt happier with myself than I ever have.”

In her 2017 book, Whoa, Baby! A Guide for New Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed and Freaked Out, Rowland admits that she isn’t against having another procedure. “I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I’m going to see someone [wink, wink] after I have my second kid. In the meantime, I just tried to enjoy my ability to feed my baby!”

During the procedure, radiofrequency energy heats the underlying connective tissue in the skin, resulting in an immediate tightening and formation of new collagen.
