We’ve interviewed some of our favorite top medical experts and moms on RealSelf to get their beauty and life advice — and celebrate all they do. Happy Mother’s Day!
Dr. Sheila Nazarian is one of the most successful doctors on RealSelf. She was one of the first plastic surgeons to tap into the power of her RealSelf profile and her own social feeds to build her brand, and she’s embraced media to help continue that momentum.
As a top plastic surgeon in one of the toughest, most competitive places in the world — Beverly Hills — Dr. Nazarian understands the demands on time-crunched working moms. With three children — two daughters, ages 6 and 10, and a son age 9 — she is one incredibly busy mom.
Here, Dr. Nazarian filled us in on a typical day and what keeps her going, from her early morning stretch sessions to her favorite microneedling procedure.
What is your biggest challenge getting out the door in the a.m. beauty-wise?
No challenges really. I get up at 5:30 a.m., which gives me plenty of time to stretch.
What does your skincare routine include?
An enzymatic facial wash, antioxidant, hydrator, growth factor product, sunscreen and retinol. [Ed note: In the video below, Dr. Nazarian shares the must-have beauty items every woman should use.]
What else do you do to take care of you and stay healthy?
Liposuction is the only exercise I get! I do try to stretch every day and need a massage weekly to relieve tired muscles from surgery throughout the week.
What are the three biggest concerns most moms who see you have?
Breasts, abdomen, labia … and natural results.
What’s your favorite over-the-counter product for busy moms?
Alastin HydraTint Sunscreen makes you look better, so you will actually wear sunscreen.
What’s your favorite quick in-office treatment for busy moms?
Vivace microneedling with radiofrequency! Makes the skin look bright and tight!
What in-office treatments do you get yourself? What do you love?
What is new and/or coming out soon that you are most excited about?
I am really excited about bringing in a laser hair removal device that is quick and painless.
What’s the best beauty advice your mom shared with you?
My mom passed away when I was 16, but always used to say, “I wish I could take the fat from here and put it over here,” which is fat transfer! We laughed about it then, but it is exactly what I am doing now!
What makes moms beautiful?
Moms are multitasking, giving superwomen! … Every mom is beautiful, and if they don’t feel that way, they need to empower themselves to invest in themselves. No guilt should be attached to self-care. Our souls are like banks. We have to make deposits in order to have the funds to give to others!
